Grinding and Polishing

For a homogenous light discharge the end of a glass fiber light guide must be ground and polished perpendicular to its optical axis. In addition to good material quality, this processing step considerably affects the properties of the light guide in the future.

For this reason, at Volpi we pay especially close attention to the grinding and polishing process and have only the best machines at our disposal. For our "oversized" lightlines we have developed and built a grinding machine in order to fulfill our high quality requirements for this product.
